The
Workbook for Lectors, Gospel Readers, and
Proclaimers of the Word (Mary A. Ehle, PhD
and Margaret Nutting Ralph, PhD) is used by St.
Catherine of Genoa Lectors to prepare for their
readings. The 2011 readings from Year A of the
Lectionary for
Mass are provided in the revised
New American Bible
translation, approved for use in the dioceses
of the United States. The workbook is provided to
the lectors by the church and has a number of
helpful features, including
- pronunciation assistance
- sense line format for
readings mirror the Lectionary and aid the
reader in preparation
- lectionary numbers for each
set of readings
- commentaries for each
reading, provide users with scriptural
background
- information and tips for
effective proclamation
- margin notes point to
the logical divisions in the passages
- bolded words help the reader
know when to stress important sections and
concepts

The
Lector Readings page on the United States
Conference of Catholic Bishops website has links to
the complete text and audio for the current lector
readings, as well as video reflections on those
readings. There is also a link to sign up for the
daily mass readings audio podcast. Clicking on a
date in the calendar allows you to view the readings
from the selected date.
You can also listen to readings
from another date, but there is no
direct link. The trick is to start with the
following link
http://ccc.usccb.org/cccradio/NABPodcasts/10_11_21.mp3
and replace the 10_11_21 in the link to be
the YR_MM_DD of
the reading you want to hear. The above link
would play the readings from November 21,
2010. Audio files for the entire month are
posted around the first of the month, at which time
audio files from previous month are deleted.
If your readings are around the first of the month,
you won't be able to listen very far in advance.
If your readings are at the end of the month, you
will have the entire month to review them. Lectors should not
forget that the 5pm Saturday mass uses the
Sunday readings. |

The
Biblical Pronunciation Guide website has audio
clips of all those hard to pronounce biblical words. |
 |
The
Lector Prep
website provides some additional information on
each week's readings. |
